curious if anyone else ties and uses the deer hair version..no feather...just spun deer hair clipped on the bottom.
 
comparaduns...yes. spunduns, well, I've never tried them.
 
like an irresistable? what is used for the wing got a pic of one?

Hmmm. Looks like something even I could tie. Might have to give it a try.
 

i tie mine with deer hair..its a good floater..will float forever it seems...here is something very close to what i use.

thats a good looking pattern. I have a handful of MB comparaduns from FFP and I like those. they ride kind of butt down and the hair wing keeps them afloat. might have to try a "spundun" though.
 
Shademt, That's very close to the one I tie for #12 march browns, too..
I found that using floatant on the wing/thorax only and letting the rear dip underneath produces an effective emerger pattern. That's pretty much how I fish it.
 
Us em all the time, basically the same idea as a comparadun, just a swept back wing, i trim the bottom even with the rest of the fly works great. doesn't twist bad either.
