Lou had some problems in the beginning, but I straightened him out. He was using two left hands at first and trying to weave from the side..

That woven dry fly is a piece of work. Well done.

Does something like that float? I wouldn't fish it, but I am wondering if it'd even be fishable.

If you dress it with enough floatant it will float in the film like a paradun. Those fan wings will make it spin like crazy and really screw up your tippet. It's really more for show.

Where do you get the empty spools to wrap the embroidery floss on? Are they just left-overs from when you finish a spool of thread?

I usually just pull off 1 or 2 lengths from the hank, depends on the size of the fly, and use it that way. No need to rewind or wrap it onto anything.

I'm guessing he was up trying to catch Henry's fish.

Lou,
That is the way I'm currently doing it, but I heard some discussions about wrapping the embroidery floss around a spool so you can use a bobbin and keep better tension on the material.
