Was wondering if any one knew of any good pictures of different bugs from the trouts perspective. Im particularly interested in dry flies. Just kind of curious to what the real things look like and how our creations match up.

Always wondered what a dry fly looks like to a trout

There is also a very good set of DVD's from Ozzie Ozefovich that really gets you thinking about what the trout see. Here's his website too.

Between these two reseources I hope you can get your questions answered.

I'll occasionally try to photograph or look at a dry fly from the trout's perspective by looking up through a glass bowl.
Honestly, I have no idea if this is even remotely similar to what a fish actually sees but I think it's a useful tool when experimenting with fly design. The pic below shows one of my emergers photographed this way.

+1 on Ozzie Osefovich's videos - they're fantastic.

Ozzie's videos are a must see. I have a soft spot for Vince Marinaro's "In the ring of the rise" because it was one of the first fly fishing books I read. He really took the time to study the insects and the trout's behavior. The photography looks a bit dated, but combined with the text I think he provided one of the best looks into the trout's perspective.

I talked with someone before that brought up a good point....

When anything is put against a strong back light, like for instance, the sun, everything is a shade of grey.
