I tie it w 3 articulated set up. 1 3/8 articulated shank -size 2/0 wide gape hook -39 lb flouro loop w 3 small red beads- size 4 wide gape hook. Hooks are Gamakatsu Finesse black wide gap hooks.
Size 4 hook
Tail:
Black Marabou
Black Rabbit Strips w one small white/barred feather on top and bottom of hook.
Body:
Black UV dyed icebou

Size 2 hook
Tail:
Black Rabbit/ Black Craft fur / black silly legs. -tie back to end of fly.

Body:
Chunks of red uv dyed Icebou
Palmer full black marabou feather
Black white barred feather on sides of fly
Black uv dyed iceabou

1 3/8" shank
Tail:
Black Craft fur
1 long strip rabbit strip tied to back of fly
Black silly legs
Black uv dyed iceabou
White black barred feathers on sides and up like ears.
Do a black deer hair collar
Black sculpin helmet

Use zap to aid strength throughout fly. Watch your proportions.

Has barred feathers for effect. 5 -5 1/2" total. Fly has some lead tied in. Very heavy fly, hooks ride up and it can be rolled right off the bottom, skipping off rocks.
It gives a slender yet full profile and swims eel like.

You can do in dark olives also.

Dang, I can think of some good spots to chuck those puppies. Do u fish these strictly in WW rivers?

If you tie these in black and olive they can be a large sculpin. They do work for trout but prefer them sized to a 4"-4 1/2 inch with 2 size 4 wide gapes.

IMO not cutting the collar makes the first part of the fly "water dynamic" as it seems to glide along in current. Tons of movement.

Correction:
I keep saying iceabou
It's dyed uv polar chenille black uv and then the red one too.
