If you never have tied any of these for brookies give them a try. Floats like a cork & the brookies & browns loved them morning on the West Branch of Pine!

Brad,
You are correct this fly really does work exceptionally well not just on Freestoners but also on Limestoners where fish have seen everything. I tie mine a whisker different. But the Bomber pattern works great.

Nearly identical to the Griffith's gnat, except for the different body, hackle, hook size, and the addition of a tail and wing ;)

Actually more like a Woolly worm with a tuft of calf hair.

or the griffith's gnat could be a size 18 bomber without a tail & the calf tail hair.
