If you never have tied any of these for brookies give them a try. Floats like a cork & the brookies & browns loved them morning on the West Branch of Pine!

Resized Image

Wing: White Calf Tail

Brad,
You are correct this fly really does work exceptionally well not just on Freestoners but also on Limestoners where fish have seen everything. I tie mine a whisker different. But the Bomber pattern works great.

Nearly identical to the Griffith's gnat, except for the different body, hackle, hook size, and the addition of a tail and wing ;)
Nice fly, and nicely tied.
Mike.

Actually more like a Woolly worm with a tuft of calf hair.

or the griffith's gnat could be a size 18 bomber without a tail & the calf tail hair.
