Both patterns from Bergman.

Yesterday I continued my 'in hand' tying experience, this time on smaller hooks, vintage Mustad Limericks, size 7. Anyone who is going to the Lancaster Fly Fishing Show can see my tying in hand. I'll be mostly tying like that at the show, but will have my vise along too.

The first fly, Munro, I tied without take step by step pics. Its not perfect; the tag is sloppy, the body did quite reach the tail, the wing folded under on the near side etc etc etc. The head on this one is unvarnished

Second one, Golden Doctor, was a little better, and I took some step by step pics along the way.

Stop the thread just past the point for the tail tie in

Tail tied in and secured with touching wraps right until about 1 eye width behind the eye

next the gold tinsel body is wrapped and secure behind the eye with 5 wraps of waxed thread.

Tie in the claret hackle throat.

First of three bunches of mallard for the wing. Also the two sides of goose slips are prepared here.

Next slip of mallard tied in, with the goose sides flanking outside the wing.

A final 'roof' of mallard is tied on, the head finished and a three turn whip finish to secure everything

One coat of varnish.

Very nice Eunan. I like the step by step pics. They give you a visual perspective on how this style of tying is done.
