First Fork Sinnemahoning Delayed Harvest

A couple of us fished the Delayed Harvest Section of the First Fork Sinnemahoning for a few hours on Saturday. Between the 3 of us we caught close to 20 fish all solid 12 inch rainbows.

We tried the Allegheny River DH but it was too windy. Its no fun fly fishing in a wind tunnel.

The water was very cold and there is still quite a few massive blocks of ice lining the banks. Not too bad of a day - and it was great just to get out.

Glad you had a good day. I want to get up there so bad but the snow is still too deep to get into my cabin. Odd that the Allegheny was windy but the First Fork wasn't.

It was windy at the First Fork, just not nearly as bad. At the Allegheny it was almost impossible to even roll cast without your line blowing back in your face or into a tree.

Allegheny R. is more open to wind, the direction of flow in that section also makes it more open to wind and the fact it's in a relateively flat wide valley all add up to more wind.
