New threat to the Lackawanna River

This may or may not be anything of concern, but a rock salt company recently purchased property along the Lackawanna River and they have applied to the DEP for a permit to allow stormwater discharges from their retention ponds into the river. This water is not protected as Class A, but should be. There are a lot of big healthy fish in that water. LVTU chapter is concerned about both the salinity and thermal issues arising from the discharges. Read more about it here and here. It tells you how to contact the DEP to voice concerns, and invites comments after March 21. Please take a few minutes to contact the DEP to express your feelings on this matter. There are too few miles of wild trout rivers as it is.
