FYI, copy of an e-mail from the Friends of the Struble Trail concerning development proposal along the E. Brandywine:

•Current Struble Trail happenings
•IMPORTANT meeting on East branch of the Brandywine Watershed tomorrow, April 14th, Wallace Township Building, 7:30 pm. 1250 Creek Rd., Glenmoore

Dear Friends,

There has been some movement on the Struble in the past few weeks as we head into spring. The bike guys are spearheading an effort through the county to get the trail blazed to Marsh Creek Park. Toward this end they started mapping out a preliminary route together with the county a few weeks ago. The bikers have volunteered their labor to help save us all tax money, so Hurray for them! I will pass along any work dates I get; I'm sure we would all like to see this piece done, and many hands make lighter work! If you'd like to be specifically notified, please reply to this email with "Trail Help" as the subject line.

In other Important news, upstream of the Struble Trail a developer is trying to build a ~600 acre destination resort/development. It will involve massive amounts of excavation, which as proposed will have an effect on the East Brandywine watershed. This development could as planned almost double the population of Wallace Township. Those of us with concerns (like wells, traffic, or recreation) downstream on the East Brandywine should be following this activity with great interest. The citizens of Wallace are trying to influence their Board of Supervisors not to grant the conditional use application as proposed. They are bringing in some impressive environmental experts to township meetings to testify. This week is a particularly important session where Alan Haberstock, Senior Wetlands Biologist, from Kleinschmidt Energy and Water Resource Consultants will be speaking on the issues concerning the Upper East Branch of the Brandywine and its tributaries. Please attend if you can - Wallace is one of our smaller townships, and its citizens are fighting a battle for all of us downstream. This speaker has national credentials, (flying in from Maine for this hearing), and his should be interesting testimony to those of us who have a new or long-term interest in the beauty and health of the East branch of the Brandywine Creek.
