Saturday October 15th the Eastern Brook Trout Joint Venture, PFBC, TCTU, Willow Creek Township and others will be completing the first half of this very important brook trout restoration effort. It is imperative that we focus on the October 15th date. This is a tremendous brook trout fishery and we have a huge opportunity to make it prime waters. We ask that all members of Tulpehocken Chapter Trout Unlimited commit a few hours or more on this project. We will begin at 8:00 AM however you can show up at any time.

For online mapping and GPS use the address: 307 Shaeffer Road, Blandon PA for approximate parking.

Please advise if you will be able to participate in this project by sending me a PM. This will allow us to keep up with volunteer hours, as well as keep communication ongoing regarding the project.

Ya, definately not trying to step on Fades party but figured wild trout enthusiast, locals not traveling, conservationist, etc may be interested. We will be doing light labor. All heavy labor was done in phase one a couple months ago.

I would like to possibly help. My two teenage daughters said they would also help. They want to know if someone will sign their community service papers for hours volunteered. It is a graduation requirement at their high school.

Absolutely. Would love to talk to them about that requirement and the high school as well, as it could be a source for future labor pools.

Thanks

Well, I made the drive up there to lend a hand, but unfortunately by the time I got there around 11:00 all the work was done!! I spoke with one lady from the middle school and she said you planted nearly 470 trees or somewhere around that. Nice job! There were a lot of people that volunteered for this and a good number of middle school kids helping out. I saw some of the stream bank improvements that were installed on the previous phase of the project. Sorry I got there so late. It all looked good though.

Sorry we missed you. I was there from 8-11am. There had to be close to 100 volunteers there throughout the morning. It was neat to see everyone come together to try and improve this stream and it's surrounding habitat.

Right under 500 trees planted. Man that water looked nice but I think it was a function of recent rains. Usually a lot lower flow. There are a couple more rounds next year, I'll keep ya posted.

Wow, 500 trees, thats alot. Did you install shelters too? Must have had a good deal of help.

Took us four saturdays and 26 volunteers to do 1400. 500 in a day is awesome.

We had the resources of Willow Creek township who augered out the holes. We had around 100 volunteers, that's 5 trees per person. That includes the trees we had to replant that the girls from the local high school messed up pretty bad.

Shane, we came up with a more politically correct name for him, but yes the tree enthusiast was there in full swing over seeing proper installation of said trees. He gave us all kinds of info on the trees and why they were the chosen ones. I don't know if he is with the conservancy or conservation district.
