Does dressing make a difference? As a newcomer, I limited my $ outlay last year. I fished a $20 WF5F line from Aquanova all spring, summer and fall and, the last time I fished, it seemed to float same as the first.
This year I spent a few bucks I'll fish SA WF5F and Rio WF3F lines and wonder if dressing makes a difference. Maybe it helps maintain the line over time?
Input appreciated.

I have never used it. Just clean your line with soapy water, rinse, and fish.

I have a orvis spray that is good. I used it on my 10 wt and it helped but im also trying to cast my who line when fishing the surf. I couldn't see using it on my trout gear. It does make the line cast a little better but it just a quick fix. The distance thing isnt real issue for where I fish.

Keeping your lines clean does make a difference. Salt water can be tough on them. If I am flats fishing, I will clean my lines every couple of days. I'll admit though I'll only clean my trout lines once a season
"lazy I guess" During summer I do some pond fishing for bluegills and bass. Those I will clean more often. Pond scum can make a line sticky.
