When I caught this fish this morning I thought right off..Rock Bass. But looking now at the pictures, it looks just like a White Bass except for its dorsal fin - my fish had one long dorsal fin section; not two like a White Bass. Is this some strange hybrid or just a variation of a Rock Bass or even a White Crappie.

More specifically, a BIG Rock Bass.

I thought the same thing - a pretty nice rock bass. The only thing that confuses it a little for me is that there is no red in the eye at all, but maybe it's just the picture - looks like a camera phone pic.

I thought the same thing re the red eyes vs. shape, but what about the possibility of a white/black crappie hybrid? I have seen photos showing a similar vertical stripeline for such hybrids.
