For the specific purpose of announcing and soliciting entertainers for the PAFF Talent Extravaganza.

Saturday night, May 22, from 10:15 to 11:15 PM, I am going to try to arrange an hour of entertainment from a makeshift soundstage toward the rear of the pavilion. I'm hoping we can get volunteers from participants to "take a set." Shakey is supposed to entertain with his acoustic guitar somewhere in this period, but rather than place the whole burden on him, I have formed a loose and tentative All-Star Band to perform about 5 minutes together.

Any of those I've contacted are welcome to work out a set to be played independently if they wish. Do we have any more musicians that want to take a set? Any singers, comedians, poets, baton twirlers, shadow casters (might not have room for this one), interpretive dancers, etc. that wish to take the stage for a few minutes or more and perform like the old coffee houses in NYC in the 50s and 60s?

If so, contact me by PM.

Others should know that we will be off to the side. It would be great to have a good sized audience, but we expect many people will want to just continue chatting around the campfire, so we plan to keep the volume low, but loud enough to be heard by those who wish to do so.

Maybe this seems silly, but I think it could be a real blast. We'll end the soundstage presentation possibly with a short speech from Dave Kile. I'm not sure which night Dave Weaver will be painting, but if Saturday, we'll hold the drawing after Dave speaks.

Use this thread only to discuss the talent show. You can volunteer here, but we'll need to talk privately to make arrangements to keep the entertainers flowing for the full hour.

Looking forward to a positive response.

My right leg has the wound and I fully dislocated my left knee in 2005. No acrobatics from me.

I'm sure the later in the evening you have it, the more willing the participants will be at that time. But that's just a hunch.

We have to quiet down at 11:15 PM. Rudy already gave me a small concession on the typical campground "quiet hours."

I hope to arrange it so the sound stays in the pavilion and maybe bleeds into the woods away from other campers.

biker, if you like to throw down a few, we can have you juggling while you walk through the campfire and then Tim Murphy can wrestle you. Is that close enough.

I'll play a little, but I'm not very good and much more comfortable in an informal setting. This means OFF the stage in a smaller group where I'm comfortable with people laughing at me, as I'll laugh along with them.

We have to quiet down after 11:15 PM/AM?

Maybe I can do something too: pet the local cats, watch the rods so nobody step on it,
make the shades for the lamps - Jack’s emptied bottles as the local recycling program.

PS: I have few more skills but tell you later

Skybay,

Don't worry dude. We have to "quiet down", meaning we just have to stop yelling. The party continues, occasionally until the sun rises.

Skybay, I hope you will make time to join us. I know you enjoyed the steelhead jam and as much fun as that was, this one will be double. Plus the Mayflies..., Lord, the mayflies.

Beauty from ugliness;

Jack, lots of people appreciate your time and energy you put into the Jam.
I bet we will experience multi hatch at different times around May 21-23 – the swim to the surface to emerge, transforming into this pretty spinners and beautiful creatures.
Don’t miss it.

I had an idea... figured I'd throw it out there.

I know a lot of guys tie some crazy flies out there. Was thinking of having a little competition. The object, over the JAM weekend (or one specific day) would be to catch a fish on the craziest/ugliest fly you have invented. You will have to have either evidence of a picture of the fish with the fly in its mouth, or a reliable source. The winner will be picked by a vote of those in competition. The prize will be a donation of a few flies from each competitor, winner takes all. Figured it might be something fun to add to a day's fishing. A winner might be voted on by not only the crazy fly, but size/species of fish, stream location, etc.

What do you think?

Ryan
