An eight week fly tying course will run each Saturday from January 5th through February 23rd at Northampton Area Middle School in the cafeteria. Classes will start at 9:30 am and will last until 11:30 am. Participants receive hands-on instruction from expert instructors. Each week will feature different fly patterns, with a transition from basic to more advanced patterns. The course is $30 total for people over 18 years of age, with free admission for youth and wounded veterans. The cost includes all tying materials and a 100 plus page manual with illustrations of various patterns. Loaner tools will be provided upon request.

You may show up in-person on any Saturday to register and participate. In other words, it is not too late to participate if one or more of the sessions are missed.

All proceeds benefit Trout Unlimited, which seeks to promote the conservation, protection, and restoration of North America’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds.

Please do not hesitate to post any questions or comments. You may also access the Hokendauqua TU website for details. Thank you.

Kind regards,

Brian Hines of the Hokendauqua Trout Unlimited Chapter

For those interested, Gary Blockus published an article and accompanying video highlighting this year's fly tying event. It can be viewed at:

Just a reminder that, even if you did not make the first Saturday, it's not too late to attend the following classes. Extra instructors are available to get participants up-to-speed. To register, you may show up at Northampton Middle School on Saturday by 9:30 am. This week will feature Tony Pavone as the featured tyer.

Please do not hesitate to post any questions or comments. Thank you.

Kind regards,

Brian of Hokendauqua TU
