I just got back from the delaware last night. Fished 4 days there - 2 on the WB and 2 on the main stem. Blue quills and hendricksons hatched on both - starting about 2-3 in the afternoon. Also had the apple green caddis hatching on the main stem so heavy, that it looked like it was snowing. The rising to the hatches wasn't real great - but I did find enough in certain spots to keep me busy.
Had a pretty good trip overall.
Looks like you guys timed this just right. Have fun!

Just got back last night, too. Fished Monday afternoon and Tuesday with Surf Cowboy and Drunken Bear ....

The GLs were crowded, so we went down and fished at Shehawken. Not much happening on Monday with hatches or fish on that rainy, windy afternoon and evening.

We fished the Gamelands (upper) on Tuesday. Lots of bugs - hendricksons, paraleps, olives, various stoneflies & caddis (no apple caddis) but not many risers. We caught a few, but pretty tough.

I heard about the apple caddis on the Mainstem from Westbranch Matt, but decided to stick to the lower WB to fish the Hendrickson hatch. Probably a mistake.

As always, we had fun. Good luck to the PAFFers this coming weekend.

Tom, I taken my most brutal beatdowns/ skunkings on the D. But I have never failed to have a good time. I can't wait to get the hell out of here!

Yup! No doubt.

The bugs were there, at least on Tuesday, but not surprising the fish were off their feed. Check out the change in temps Mon & Tues.

Bruno and I have falling productivity at work today and tomorrow. We hope to be on the West Branch late Friday afternoon. Both of our first times on the D. Looking forward to tipping some beers and bourbons with some fellow PAFFers over the weekend.

Report from the Delaware River Club:
"Yesterday was some of the best dry fly fishing that we have seen this year, with fish up and rising on every river, pretty much in every riffle run and pool for near the entirety of the day. Hendricksons were back on the West Branch, as well as the East, but Apple Caddis were the fly of choice on the Main Stem..."

Lol...come on up and spend your money!

The bugs were there (on the WB, anyway), but not a lot of risers because of the temp drop (IMHO). If the weather forecast holds and the water warms a bit, I would bet you guys are in for a great weekend of fishing! Good luck to all.

Alby,

Take those reports with a grain of salt. They'd love to have you come, rent a room, get a guide and buy $2500 of gear while you're there. LOL. With the flows and temps, there is NO DOUBT there are some snow storm hatches going on up there. You may or may not find them with 80+ miles of water to choose from. Another strange thing about those rivers is that you can hit a blanket hatch back to back days and only see 2 rising fish. Remember that it's the amazing hatches, nice surroundings and good company that you can bank on. Succes on that river is rarely measured in 20 fish days. Enjoy it looks like we'll be hitting it at a very good time.

If anyone coming up needs my cell #, PM me before 9pm Friday. After that, you can get it from Becker, Phil, Tom or a few others. It's likely we will be on the river between the hours of 11am & 8pm.

Holy Cow! If I stopped @ Cabelas for anchor rope, I'd spend $683.17 and probably forget why I stopped in the first place. I think you can get something in Hancock, Honesdale, or maybe even Forrest City. Unless you want something special, I just have 1/4" Braided Nylon.

I have some 1/4 and 5/16. One should work for you. Stop a Lowe's and it's a bunch cheaper than actual "anchor rope" from a sporting goods place. Honesdale has a couple of hardware / farm stores. Should be to the Capra Saturday around 9-9:30. If you want to hit it with me and Tom, you're in. Are you in decent physical condition? I'll wear ya out. If the wind is favorable, we are leaving by 10 for an all dayer.

Physical condition won't be an issue. I'm definitely in. See you then.
